About Tony Ritchie
Tony Ritchie is a senior executive based in Sydney, with over 25 years of experience in both business and information technology leadership roles across a range of industries. He is an experienced people leader with strong strategic thinking ability and an outstanding track record in successfully delivering digital transformation, innovation and large complex projects and change initiatives .
Tony’s most recent role was Group Chief Information Officer for the NSW Government’s Department of Customer Service (DCS) with responsibility for business engagement, digital and technology project delivery and ICT governance, security, and portfolio management. Tony led the DCS participation and contribution to the development of the NSW Government Cloud strategy and his team leveraged cloud technologies to successfully deliver digital transformation across multiple agencies.
Tony initially joined the department as NSW Government Chief Procurement Officer in 2016. Shortly after starting this role, his remit was expanded to Executive Director, Government Services with additional responsibility for Heritage Stoneworks and Manly Hydraulics Lab. In 2018, Tony was seconded to lead the ICT and Digital Whole of Government procurement team to manage major software and telecommunications vendor negotiations and to launch the NSW Government’s procurement portal – buy.nsw.
Before joining NSW Government, Tony was General Manager, Digital, Technology & Operations at Virgin Money Australia. He had responsibility for the development and delivery of customer centric online and mobile capabilities to ensure a consistent and seamless Virgin Customer Experience and for program management across the Virgin Money project portfolio. During his time at Virgin Money, his team delivered a major relaunch of the Virgin Money website with new branding, improved user experience and expanded functionality and a successful migration to a new superannuation product provider.
Prior to this, Tony was employed by American Express as Vice President American Express Technologies for the Japan Asia Pacific & Australasia region. His responsibilities included managing technology platforms and projects for the Consumer Card business and the Operations functions. During this time, American Express invested in major system upgrades to create a best in class digital customer experience.
Previously, Tony served in a number of leadership positions at Westpac Banking Corporation, including Head of Retail Transaction Products and various senior roles in their Cards and Payments business. Before joining Westpac, Tony worked as a management consultant in Australia and Europe.
